Fire crews here in east Suffolk are warning children to stay away from ice covered water as the bitter  weather continues.

The advice comes after youngsters in Lowestfoft’s Normanston Park – and around Oulton Broad st Nicholas Everitt Park were reported to be seeing how thick the ice was.

Four children in the West Midlands died when falling through ice last weekend – and Suffolk FRS hope youngsters would listen to their advice.

With the cold snap continuing until the weekend, they say the main danger for adults comes when they put themselves at risk by trying to save a dog.
