One of England’s oldest non Church of England chapels has unveiled a new fundraising project.
The Old Chapel at Walpole near Halesworth, needs repair and restoration work to help ensure its long-term survival for future generations.
The fundraising appeal has been called ‘Unwrapped’ - and will look to provide money for the exterior of the building as the wrong materials have been used for repairs over the last 50 years.
The Chapel was created from a domestic farm building into a non-conformist meeting house in the middle of the 17th century. Its beautifully preserved interior offers visitors a rare insight into the history of dissenting worship in Suffolk in the 17th and 18th centuries.
The Grade II * listed building offers a spectacular setting for performances and events, with a programme of music, poetry, exhibitions and new commissions. The Chapel is available for weddings, baptisms, and blessings, and can be hired for meetings and location filming.
