A local bus company came to the rescue on Friday - after a tractor broke down and the load it was towing, spilt onto a busy Suffolk road.

The A146 at North Cove was left partly blocked around the middle of the day, as a team of volunteers from Border Bus helped police clear the highway.

Traffic was left queuing for many miles for a time - but by early afternoon the road had been made safe and fully reopened. This Border Bus photo shows the scence in North Cove on Friday.

Elsewhere on Suffolk's roads, Police are appealing for witnesses and information following a road traffic collision in Oulton. The incident occurred at approximately 11.05pm on Saturday 5th June in Oulton Street. The victim, a man, was driving a Toyota Yaris along Oulton Street, when their vehicle was then hit from behind by what is described as being a black Volkswagen Golf or Polo. The driver of the Volkswagen then got out and started shouting and swearing at the victim before they then drove away at speed, without leaving their details. It is believed the driver of the Volkswagen then turned into Union Lane. Officers would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or the manner of driving of both vehicles. Any witnesses, or anyone driving along the road immediately prior to and shortly after the collision with a dash-cam should contact the Safer Neighbourhood Team at Lowestoft Police Station.
