Light aircraft crash-land at Beccles Airfield and at the Heveningham Hall Estate
Beccles Airfield
A small plane crashed at Beccles Airfield Saturday Morning. The Piper Archer II single engine aircraft had taken off from Nottingham at 10:17am. The plane made a few loops over Southwold before heading to the airfield near Ellough. It crash landed at the edge of a field and the tarmac just before 11:30am. Four people onboard were treated by the emergency services. The cause of the crash is not yet known.
Heveningham Hall Estate
A light aircraft crashed at the Heveningham Hall Estate Sunday afternoon, shortly after 1pm. Two people were treated by the emergency services. The hall was having its annual country fair at the time which features vintage aircraft. Just last week the Air Accidents Investigation Branch released a report on a small plane that crashed there last July. In that incident soft soil caused by heavy rain was thought to be the primary factor when the plane touched down on the grass runway and flipped over.
