Suffolk Police in Leiston 28 June

Six people were arrested in Leiston as part of a Community Safety day last Friday 28 June

Suffolk Police joined forces with a range of partners for the community safety initiative. The teams carried out checks on commercial vehicles, fly-tipping, licensed premises and residential fire safety, whilst also conducted highly visible foot patrols. Arrests were made for drug-driving,  speeding, not wearing a seatbelt, driving without insurance, driving without an MoT, and carrying an insecure load, and  Other speed check sites were monitored at Saxmundham Road, Red House Lane, and Knodishall.

Officers worked with housing, waste, licensing, environmental protection and corporate fraud teams from East Suffolk Council, Suffolk Fire & Rescue Service and East Suffolk Services.

Locality Inspector Liz Casey said: “Our impact day not only highlighted a number of areas of concern to residents but also provided a visible presence across the town. Of course, our work continues throughout the year but we were able to reassure people with our multi-agency work and deal with a wide range of offences. I would like to thank our partners and residents.”
