Police are appealing for witnesses to a serious road traffic collision in Yoxford. Officers were called to the A12 shortly after 4:10pm today, Thursday 22 February, following reports of a two-vehicle collision which occurred between Middleton Road and Westleton Road. It involved a bronze-coloured BMW X1 and a silver Volkswagen Golf. Police, ambulance, air ambulance, and Suffolk Fire and Rescue were all in attendance to the incident. The driver of the Golf – a woman aged in her 60s – was initially taken to James Paget Hospital via land ambulance but was later transferred to Addenbrookes Hospital with life threatening injuries, where she remains in a critical condition. The driver of the BMW, a man aged in his 70s, has been arrested on suspicion of drug driving after he failed a roadside drugs wipe test for suspected cannabis. He has been taken to Ipswich Hospital as a precaution. The A12 remains closed in both directions while collision investigation and recovery work continues. Police would like to hear from any witnesses to the collision, and are asking for motorists travelling in the area with dash cam to check their footage.
