New Supermarket Coming to Lowestoft

Lowestoft's Homebase store is to close with a new Sainsbury's supermarket planned for the site

A major national supermarket is coming to Lowestoft for the first time.

A new Suffolk Sainsbury’s is on the way - and is one of ten sites that the supermarket giant is buying across the UK.

Early next month,  J Sainsbury plc say they are set to buy what is currently the Homebase store on the South Lowestoft Industrial Estate.

The news follows reports that Homebase was preparing to launch a sale - with workers at the DIY store now told they will be guaranteed a job interview at Sainsbury’s.

The first of the new Sainsbury’s stores should open next summer.
