Motorcycle Appeal After Lowestoft Collision

Police are appealing for information as to the whereabouts of an off-road motorcycle that is suspected of being involved in a serious injury collision in Lowestoft.

Police are appealing for information as to the whereabouts of an off-road motorcycle that is suspected of being involved in a serious injury collision in Lowestoft.The collision took place on the cycle path known locally as ‘The Tramways’, between Barnard's Way and Rotterdam Road in Lowestoft on Tuesday 7th  September 2021.  The bike was in collision with a cyclist who is aged in her 70s.On Wednesday 9th February, a 21 year old man from the Lowestoft area, was interviewed by police in relation to the collision, and has subsequently been released under investigation.

As inquiries continue, police have released photographs of the bike that is suspected to have been involved in the collision. The bike is described as being an off-road type scrambler motorcycle, with a blue front fairing, with white trim. It has a white front plate, a red padded crossbar, with lighter metallic blue front forks. The motorcycle has distinctive off-road tyres. Sergeant Adrian Hales, from the Norfolk and Suffolk Roads and Armed policing team at Acle said: “Following extensive enquiries we are now interested in tracing a blue and white off road motorcycle which we believe may have been the motorcycle involved. We would like to know the whereabouts of this bike, which may well be in the possession of an innocent purchaser and would appeal to the current owner to come forward and contact police.” “I believe the bike may well have been sold sometime following the collision, and the current owner may well not be aware of the circumstances surrounding the collision. I would be interested in speaking to that person, who may well have important information that will assist the enquiry.”“This was a terrible collision where an elderly lady received serious injuries as a result of the collision, and I’m keen to identify the rider responsible. I am still appealing for anyone with any information about the collision to make contact with us.”

The 70 year old female pedal cyclist is recovering well and continues to make good progress at home.
