A man from Lowestoft has been jailed for drug offences in the town. 34 year old Nicky Bates of no fixed abode but from the Lowestoft area appeared at Ipswich Crown Court today (Friday 12 May) where he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 40 months in prison. He pleaded guilty to being concerned in supply of cocaine; being concerned in supply of heroin; and being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine - all from 28 January 2023 to 13 April 2023 Bates was issuing bulk text messages on a mobile phone promoting the sale of drugs – namely cocaine, crack cocaine, and heroin. He was arrested in April 2023 for being concerned in the supply of class A and class B drugs and was subsequently charged on 14 April. Investigating officer Simon Bendall said: “This sentence comes as a result of a drugs warrant executed on 13 April 2023 and carried out jointly by officers from the East Kestrel team, East Scorpion team and the Serious Crime Disruption Team for the east & west. “The team worked hard to gather evidence and secure charges against Bates resulting in the sentence imposed today. The supply of Class A causes untold damage and harm to our communities and collectively we are committed to taking action against those that seek to cause harm and prey on the vulnerable.” If you suspect drug dealing is taking place in your area or see anything suspicious or out of place, please tell us.
