Labour Candidate Elected in Suffolk Coastal

    For the first time since its creation, Suffolk Coastal will not be represented by a Conservative.

    The Labour candidate Jenny Ridwell-Carpenter was elected to the seat with incumbent MP There Coffey coming in a close second.

    Jenny Ridwell-Carpenter Carpenter received 15,672 votes to Theresa Coffee’s 14.602. The results were declared at 4AM. The Tory strong-hold was created in 1983 after boundary changes and has been represented by the Conservatives ever since. 

    Turnout was 66%

    Coffee was made a Dame when the government’s dissolution honours list was announced shortly before the polls closed at 10pm..
