Two and a half thousand people have responded to an East Suffolk One survey, which asked 'where have you driven over a pothole recenly' - and if so, where?
Lowestoft and Beccles topped the list of towns with most potholes, followed by Leiston, Halesworth and Southwold. Some of the other 'pothole hotspots' - included Bungay and Framlingham.
Lisa Harding told us that she had reported pavements near the school in Kessingland, as it was 'not good when pushing a disabled buggy' over them. Lisa said she was told that it take 8 months to get the potholes, pictured here, to get fixed. Meanwhile, Alan Murray told us that a road in Sotterley, which has also collapsed, was reported 2 months ago - and sent us this picture: Lowestoft, Beccles, Leiston, Southwold and Halesworth were among just some of the places where dangerous road conditions were reported to us because of the potholes - and the number of them.
Reports of poor roads and potholes also included the busier routes, such as the A12 and A146. East Suffolk One asked Suffolk Highways when road users in our area would see improvements, this following the feedback from the many who also provided locations and details of specific roads and their poor quality.
The response from Suffolk Highways said: ' D uring the winter months, communities across the country tend see a significant increase in the number of potholes due to the cold and wet weather. Suffolk Highways is working to repair potholes as quickly and efficiently as possible, whilst also investing in preventative road maintenance such as surface dressing and road resurfacing to help stop new potholes forming. Although we inspect our roads regularly to find potholes which need repairing, we also encourage members of the public to report any road defects to us via our Highways Reporting Tool , we will then inspect these defects and decide on any action that may be required.'
