Theatres across east Suffolk are celebrating - after receiving a second round of financial support from the government’s Culture Recovery Fund.

Theatres across east Suffolk are celebrating - after receiving a second round of financial support from the government’s Culture Recovery Fund.

Lowestoft Marina Theatre received a grant just shy of £149,000 - whilst the in Beccles, the Public Hall and Theatre and The Cut in Halesworth also received funding.

Theatres will use the money to help venues gradually return to adding events and towards a full programme of activity from the summer.

John Cushing, Operations Director of Beccles Public Hall and Theatre said “We are thrilled to have received this additional support and to be recognised as a valued Arts Venue in Suffolk. The past year has been exceptionally challenging for us and for all arts organisations; the funding enables us to gradually return to our full programme of activity and we look forward to being able to welcome our audiences and users back to the venue very soon. Thanks to the DCMS funding, we continue to be Here for Culture, Here for You, and Here for Beccles.”

As part of a new re-opening campaign, Beccles Lido Limited that owns and operates the theatre, the towns open-air swimming pool and ferry have launched a discovery and improvement survey to understand how people feel about returning to its leisure facilities in the town. It aim is that it hopes the results from the survey will help understand how its users feel as restrictions are lifted as part of the governments roadmap. The lido has now reopened, where it saw thousands of bookings for swimming sessions.

Beccles Public Hall & Theatre are planning on opening at the end of May in line with the roadmap and will be unveiling its programme later this month.
