Bike Active North Suffolk is a new charity that has just completed a 24 hour bike fundraising marathon at Snap Fitness in Beccles.
Money raised is going towards specially adapted but expensive bikes - which are vital for the people they are helping.
Bike Active North Suffolk (BANS) is a new charity. We aim to offer adults with disabilities or recovering from injuries or illnesses, such as strokes or lack of confidence, the chance to ride a bicycle that suits their needs by attending our sessions.
There are based in Halesworth and starting in 2025, they will run the sessions every other Tuesday from April through to October, weather permitting. The sessions will be run at the "Millennium Green" Halesworth, which is road traffic-free.
As our charity builds we intend to periodically run events further afield. We are organising a charity event to raise £3000 towards an adaptive bike.
This included the 24-hour/500-mile spin bike ride, for which people booked 30-minute or more - “spin slots”, or more and started at 1000 on Monday (20th January).
The event was opened by William Ellard, the Paralympian gold medal swimmer from Beccles, as pictured below with fellow cyclist Sophie and members of Bike Active North Suffolk.
