Beccles is playing host to a group of visitors from its French twin town of Petit-Couronne.
During the four-day stay this week, the visitors will spend time with host families in and around the town.
The visit will include a special walk and talk on the ‘twinning trail’ - and also see the climax of the ‘Olympic Knitting, Crochet and Pom-Pom Making Challenge’ - that’s been taking place between Beccles, Petit Couronne and Ahlem in Germany.
The Olympic challenge followed the magnificent support of the Beccles Jubilee bunting project in 2022. Twinning friends from Petit-Couronne asked for help to make knitted or crochet squares - as part of a wider Cultural Olympic project by 'Tricote un Sourire' - who aim to collect a million squares up until September and the Paralympics.
Along the way, unique art installations were created to welcome the Olymic flame and celebrate Paris 2024.
To add to the fun, the towns twinned with Petit-Couronne are also competing to see which country can produce the most.
