More Funding for Suffolk’s Emergency Walking and Cycling Schemes

Suffolk has been awarded additional money from the Department for Transport to support the county’s plans for emergency temporary walking and cycling schemes.
Back in May, funds were made available for emergency work to make walking and cycling easier and safer during the COVID-19 pandemic – in order to avoid overcrowding the transport network.
The interventions ensure those people who need and want to make essential journeys and take daily exercise by foot or bike can do safely whilst maintaining social distancing.
£337,000 had been allocated to the County Council as the first tranche of its funding, but following proposed plans being assessed against the DfT criteria – the council has now been given more than £376,000 because the proposals were particularly strong.

Witness Appeal Following Serious Assault in Oulton Broad
