Last weekend, Lowestoft’s Lifeboat was called into action, when the crew had to assist a sailor who was in difficulty in a small yacht.

The incident happened close to the pier heads at Lowestoft, shortly after midday on Saturday 19th June.

It was decided by the lifeboat crew that  a tow was necessary and the safest way to help the sailor – and the yacht was brought into the harbour at around 1 o’clock.

This image on social media from Lowestoft Lifeboat’s shows the yacht being towed onto harbour.

Meanwhile, it was also a busy Saturday for the East of England Air Ambulance in east Suffolk, when there were two emergency incidents.

A man in his 70s was given medical treatment in Southwold for the medical emergency shortly before midday on Saturday…

Then just a few hours later, the helicopter was back in the area – and this time in Bungay, after a man in his 60s suffered a heart attack.

Both patients were flown to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital for further treatment.
