A network of Warm Rooms is open across east Suffolk to provide a safe, welcoming space for anyone struggling with heating costs during the colder winter months. Locations include everything from community halls and churches to leisure centres and pubs, each providing a warm space, hot drinks and an opportunity to connect with other members of the local community. The network of 30 Warm Rooms can be found across the east Suffolk area - with several venues planning free, independently funded activities, ranging from books and games to film showings, allowing people to not only stay warm but also connect with others in the community, reducing isolation and loneliness. Help and advice will be available on subjects such as reducing energy costs and managing finances, while East Suffolk District Council will also be working with the Rural Coffee Caravan to identify and support Warm Spaces in more rural communities. https://www.eastsuffolk.gov.uk/assets/Community/Ease-the-Squeeze/Network-of-Warm-Rooms.pdf or https://ruralcoffeecaravan.org.uk/

The Beccles Bombles are a volunteer group who meet at 2pm every Tuesday – and set about cleaning up litter-strewn areas of the town. They go underground, overground and regularly to the Common. Most of what is found is hard to make good use of, and a lot of it isn’t just the things that the everyday folk leave behind. If you can spare just a few minutes, every so often, collectively they want to make Beccles the pride of the Waveney Valley! You can join the group on Facebook, where they and we will provide you with details of our next sweep – and bibs, pickers & bin bags are all provided.

Beccles Community Hub is a place where people can volunteer or members of our community can contact us for volunteering support. Over recent weeks, the Hub has been a hive of activity as a team of volunteers knit and sew bunting, in readiness for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations. On Wednesday 11th May, the Hub welcomed friends from Petit-Couronne - Beccles' twin town. Beccles Town Mayor Richard Stubbings and Assistant Town Mayor Ashley Lever were among those on hand to help receive the fantastic work from across the Channel. The Twinning Association had been busy in northern France as well, bringing 1500 bunting triangles with them. The bunting will be added to that already being put up around the town.
