Police are appealing for information following an incident of criminal damage and assault in Lowestoft.

Police received a call on Sunday 23 February, just after midnight after a report that a blue C4 Citroen had its rear window smashed.

At the same time, the driver of a black VW Polo stopped his vehicle when he saw another man, aged 18, being assaulted and sustained minor injuries.

When the driver of the Polo went to intervene, he was also assaulted, as was his 16 year old girlfriend. The man sustained bruising to his face and neck, while the woman had her hair pulled with no injuries caused.

The same offender caused damage to the VW Polo driver’s side window, by punching the window and causing it to smash.

The suspect is described as white, of stocky build, around 25 years old, with tattoos on his neck and was wearing a dark blue tracksuit with a dark coloured ‘beanie’ style hat.

Anyone who witnessed or has knowledge of the incident should either contact Lowestoft police, phone 101 or contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111
